Rollins set to make managerial debut
Jimmy Rollins accepted a role in Philadelphia's front office as a special advisor to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski in March.
Rollins’ latest endeavor will be managing the American League team in MLB's All-Star Futures Game on July 16 at Dodger Stadium.
This will be Rollins' first “real” experience with managing, and as of now, Rob Thomson is only serving as interim manager for the Phillies until the end of the 2022 season.
Given J-Roll's connections to the Phillies and Dombrowski, him becoming a candidate for the managerial job will be something to keep an eye on this winter. —Lauren Amour, Inside the Phillies

Phillies complete trade with Giants
The Phillies completed a minor league trade with the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
Philadelphia acquired left-hander Michael Plassmeyer and cash considerations in exchange for catcher Austin Wynns.
Plassmeyer was assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, and will likely serve as a depth option for the Phillies should they need another starter.
The Phillies will be Plassmeyer's fourth organization in four years. He was drafted by the Mariners in 2018, traded to the Rays that offseason, and then traded again to the Giants in June 2021. —Leo Morgenstern, Inside the Phillies

Exclusive interview with Mark Appel
Former first overall MLB Draft pick Mark Appel sat down with our own Alex Carr to discuss his career in baseball and what led him to his most recent opportunity with the Phillies.
Appel was drafted three separate times, bore the weight of a first overall pick, dealt with multiple injuries and setbacks, and ultimately took an “indefinite” hiatus from the game he devoted his life to.
Fortunately for the Phillies, said indefinite hiatus turned out to be a four-year break, as Appel would return to the organization for the 2021 minor league season.
“The goal for all of us is to get up to the big leagues and help the Phillies win some games,” said Appel. “At the end of the day, and I genuinely mean this, I literally just want to fill whatever role the Phillies need that I can do well.” —Alex Carr, Inside the Phillies

Castellanos is unsung leader of Phillies' clubhouse
Philadelphia acquired a clubhouse leader in Nick Castellanos. Although he’s been struggling as of late, behind the scenes, he's been a mentor to the Phillies’ young players.
Castellanos gave Alec Bohm a tip before hitting his game-tying home run against Josh Hader on Tuesday.
In April, Castellanos had an encouraging message for Mickey Moniak, who had just landed on the injured list with a hand injury in the final game of spring training.
Rookie Bryson Stott was the most recent subject of Castellanos' praise, following his four-hit night on Wednesday. —Lauren Amour, Inside the Phillies
